I came across some of the cards that i made for my mom when i was young. I don't think i would have the patient to make any of these cards now. As years goes by, i think i become more creative in making cards for my mom....

Funny Odie

Odie is in his recovering stage. He is healthy and active now. As usual, he continue bully Lancer and noisy when comes to food. He has a rather wide scar. I will bring him to the vet for check up this Saturday. Just hope that doctor allows him to take off the head shade. It is just too troublesome with the head shade on. He looks rather funny though.

Mango Pudding

This is the mango pudding i made today. It will be perfect to serve with some evaporated milk. I have tried making it few times, but not a perfect mango pudding. I am still thinking ways to make it better. Like trying to add some jelly powder to harden it or add some lemon juice to make it tastier. Hope that it will taste nice.

Electronic Plant

This is my new electronic plant that i put on my office table. The leaf move up and down in slow motion. I like this plant so much. No need to water it. I don't have a green finger like my yee ma (姨妈). I can't even take good care of a cactus. So this is just a kind of plant for someone like me. This plant reminds me of someone.

Recovering

Eventually Odie starts eating today. The doctor still needs to monitor him just in case he vomits. Odie looks better today. Somehow, tears coming out from his eyes. I know he is in pain. The scar is rather wide. Last year, i did an operation. The few little scars caused enough of pain for me. Hence, I think i can imagine how pain it would be for him. Odie will probably stay another day in the vet. If his condition is getting better, he will discharge on Sat.

After Operation

Finally Odie did his operation. He is fine now. However, he still needs to be closely monitored. Doctor said part of his intestines has swollen. He might vomit if he eats. Hence, Odie needs to stay in the vet for few more days for dripping. He has not been eating for 4 days. He is losing weight drastically. Anyhow, it is a relief to me since the doctor found out what is the problem and thank god, it is not tumor. I can’t tell exactly what kind of seed is that. It looks like durian seed, nangka seed.

I have forced my mom to bring Odie’s blanket and pillow to the vet tomorrow morning. At least Odie has something that he is familiar with. I feel better now. I was a bit moody the whole day. I feel relief when the doctor called me at 5.30pm to inform me he has done with the operation and Odie is fine.

News

I don’t want to write this in my blog but somehow when I read the newspaper today, I just feel worry, sad, scared by the news.

First, my youngest god sister’s bf reported missing few days ago and it is published in the newspaper today. Everything just seems so strange. I am worried. Don’t want to put in details what is happening since it is still in investigating stage.

Second, the news that a little girl was sexually assaulted and was found death and put in a bag. Post mortem found that the monster who rapes her has stuffed cucumber and brinjal in her private part. She has suffered a lot of pain before her death. I felt my heart was pounding and I felt the pain in my heart. How someone could did such a non human act to a little girl. I am sad and scared. I tried to hold my tears behind.

What happen to our society?????

Odie in the Vet

I went to visit Odie right after my office hour. I have called Dr Lim twice today to check out about Odie’s status. He is still not eating, so doctor has put 24 hours dripping for him. Good that he drinks water. He did not vomit during the day, but vomit once in the evening and the time when I went to visit him.

Dr Lim did an ultrasound for Odie today and notice the object appeared in the intestine. He can’t really tell what the object is. It could be a fruit seed (I hope it is a durian seed, at least it is not harmful) or a tumor. Dr Lim advised that before the operation, it is better to do a colored X-Ray, where he will let Odie drink some colored media, X-ray will be taken every 1 hour as and when the colored media flow through his body. I have reviewed each and single piece of the X-ray, normal X-Ray and colored X-Ray. We can pin point the exact location of the object with the colored X-ray. (“Colored” x-ray is still in black and white form, just that it is more define and cleared). It appeared that the object is moving slowly in Odie’s intestine. This could be a relief as tumor don’t move instead it will spread. The bad thing is since the object is moving slowly as and when the intestine pushes it. It will cause pain and even hurt the surface of the intestine.

Dr Lim suggests scheduling Odie for an operation tomorrow. I agreed with his suggestion. Dr Lim said he will cut a hole in his intestine to take the object out. He asks me not to worry because he is not cutting off his intestine. However, he will need to check how bad his intestine has been hurt so far.

Odie probably needs to stay in the vet for at least another 4-5 days after his operation and until he can eat normally. Odie lost his weight. Tears coming out from his eyes when he sees me. I pet, hug and kiss him. I company him to do his colored X-ray when I am there. I spent more than 1 hour to company and talk to him. He is really tired……

My Poor Odie

My poor Odie has admitted to the vet for close monitor today. I am so worried about him and keep thinking how he is now. The vet has tested his blood yesterday and it shows normal. The fact is that he is not feeling well. Odie has stop eating for 2 days and keep vomiting for days. Normally he starts to vomit during the night. And it gets worse when he vomits days and nights. Today, Jeff helps me to bring Odie to the vet for further check up. The doctor did an x-ray for Odie. The results show that his stomach is fine but there is a black spot under the stomach. The doctor can’t tell exactly what it is and advice us to let Odie stay in the vet for 1 or 2 days. The doctor will do a closely monitor on him and might need to do an ultrasound.

I am so worried about Odie at the moment. I pray that he will get well soon. I know he will feel very uncomfortable to stay in an unfamiliar place with no pillow and fan. He will miss me just like I do. He might think why I left him there. Why I don’t want him.….. Sigh…... What happen to my dear Odie??????

Not Feeling well- Odie & Grace

I was not feeling so well the past 2 days. I am having a bad sore throat on Friday and running nose. The condition was worsening on Saturday after my shopping spree with Faye in Lot 10 and Sungei Wang. My head starts spinning and it is getting heavier and sleepy. I took a nap when I am home. I just felt tired and need rest for the rest of the day.

In morning, I was rather pissed off with my mom and she almost makes me cry. Odie was not feeling well since he keeps vomiting continuously for few days and yesterday night was the worse. He stops eating and just hides himself under the table today. No more colors in his eyes. My mom just yell at me while I am still on my bed telling me about Odie’s condition and wants me to bring him to the vet. I just felt sad why she doesn’t bother to ask me how I feel as I am not feeling well too. Why she can’t ask other family member to bring Odie to the vet? She just pissed me off. Then I say to myself, I will bring Odie to the vet no matter what, even I sick like shit or sick till going to die. I will still bring him to the vet since she is not going to help me. Anyway, i feel better today.

Jeff companies me to take Odie to the vet. Odie is ok. But he needs closely monitor in this coming three days. If he keeps vomiting, he needs further check up and an x ray.

I almost forgot that today is Odie’s birthday. My maid reminded me that I promised to buy Odie a cheese burger from Mc Donald as his birthday present. Oh, I broke my promise. How could I! So, I decided to share the cake I bought from San Fransico Coffee with Odie.

Seok Chin & Jessica

Yesterday, during lunch time, I bump into Seok Chin in UOA building. It has been almost 3 years since we last met. So we meet up today for lunch. Me, Seok Chin, Jessica Tiong and King Keong, all the ex-deloitte. It is really good to have old friends to meet up. Seok Chin had a 2 year old son. From her I get to know Pei Pei, Foong Ling. Both of our old friends already had their own baby. Time flies….

After our lunch, me and Jessica went back to office and took some photos. I said both of us look smart today. Somehow, the photos don’t look as smart as the real us. Oh ya, Jessica and Rebecca are twins. I still remember, there was one time I asked TJ, Jessica and Rebecca, who looks prettier. He said, Grace, they are identical because they are twins…. Then I realized, what a stupid question I have asked.

Oh ya, for friends who know Jessica or Rebecca well. Here is a secret why we look almost same height. Yes, you are rite, she was tipping her toe while taking the photo.... hahahah....

Saw that little paw pillow on Jessie's chair, i brought from my home. But i dont think it is that comfortable. It is a bit too big to put behind the chair. May be i got a big butt. The paw pillow takes up 1/3 of the chair, left 2/3 for me. Somehow, Jessie think it is really comfortable. So is on her chair now. I bought myself a Ikea pillow just now. Blue in colour.

Remembering Names

Every time someone joined a new company, had a meeting or meeting up with friends and new friends, a very important skill that one should master is the skill in remembering names. Not only remember names, we need to remember name and associate their name with the correct person. Being new in the company, there are tones of names and title to remember. It tends to be easier when someone has an English name. Or else i will take twice the effort to remember a Chinese translated name. I think one of the important points to remember someone name is to repeat his/her name in your mind few times after he/she has introduced themselves. Or else, in my case, for sure I can’t even recall his/her name 10 minutes later.

Other than that, I have to get used to the short form a company normally used. For example, last time when I was in an Accounting Firm, IRB normally stands for Inland Revenue Board, a body that in charge with taxes matters. The IRB HP refers to is Investment Review Board. There are so many short forms used here. Not a big deal, I just need some time to get used to it.

2 months old puppies ready for adoption

Parcel from DHL

Today when I was in office, I received a call from DHL to check whether there are any people at home as they have a parcel for me. I was curious what that is and where it is from. They said it was from China. My heart start pounding because I am so happy that somebody sent me something. I am just so happy. Although I have yet to find out what it is, it is more than enough to know that my friend from China really 很有心意. I can’t wait to get home and check it out.


Once I got home, the very first thing is to get a blade and start opening the parcel. Out of my surprise, it was all the Beijing junk food that I long missed. Still remember in 8 August 2007, I have written in my blog that I miss a type of junk food named 山楂卷. Now, I have all of those, different shapes, sizes and forms. In addition from those山楂卷, there are 红枣茶，蜜枣 in the parcel. I like all those things. My mom keeps saying, sure I will get fat after eating all those junks when she saw me start taking photos and start eating the junks. She said 山楂 (fig) and蜜枣(dates) helps to boost up ones appetite. I will tend to get hungry easily the more I eat those junks. Anyway, I really happy and treasure it. I will compensate by doing more exercise for eating the junks.

My cubicle

This is my working cubicle in HP.

I have my own laptop and an old HP Deskjet 670C colour printer. The printer was left over by my predecessor. Once I got my new laptop probably in two weeks time, this printer will become obsolete and have to be stored in the store room, since the printer’s cable is not compatible with my new laptop. By then I will be using the shared network printer which just located in front of my cubicle. Of course if there is a need, I will probably order a new printer. Somehow, I don’t see the reason that I need to own one by myself. The network printer is better as it can print faster with better quality.

The mouse pad and mouse I am using are provided by HP as well. I am fine with the mouse pad but not the mouse. It is too big for my hand. So I have ordered another new mouse where I will getting it soon. At least i can get a latest version of mouse. Hopefully it is just the right size for my small hand.

The phone that I am using is a Cisco IP Phone. It is the same phone as the senior managers and partners using in BJ EY. Good that I have used that phone before in Ivan’s room. Feel familiar with the buttons and function of the phone.

This is my HP calendar. This month’s cover page was featured by some little cartoon characters. The title of the month (September) is “Enabling everyone to feel like kids again”. The artists in DreamWork have uses HP xw9300 Workstation and several thousand of HP ProLiant servers when working on the creation of Shrek 2. Artists could work on multiple shots simultaneously. Ultimately, delivering results capable of making any adult stare at the screen in childlike wonder : )

This is my HP 2007 diary. It comes in two colours, green and orange. I have no preference in both colours. I just take whatever the administrative girl gave me.

This is my right hand side drawers and 2 layers of file racks. Currently is rather empty in the drawer. I filled the first layer of drawer with paper clips, staple refill, puncher, eraser, chewing gum and so on. I will keep my laptop and diary in my second drawer and hand bag in the lower part of the drawer. I have a tweety bird printed tissue box, name card holder etc on the rack. The cupboard on my right hand side (just above the rack) is basically empty now.

I consider my work space rather spacious and comfortable.

First day in HP

Today is my first day in Hewlett-Packard. Basically is on administration works. 2 hours of induction course in the morning. The very first impression is that everything is so “E” (Electronic). Every administration work, including selecting the bank to debit our monthly salary, electronic pay slip and a lot more, have to do so via HP portal. All the information is just stored in the portal. Of course this is very true since it is an IT company.
Sook Han, my direct supervisor buy our team a lunch at The Curve. All of us have a pleasant lunch and nice chat among us. I spend my afternoon setting up my computer, find ways to format it. As I said, everything in HP is very “E” and very “DIY”. However, I have other colleague to help me out if I need their help.

Later in the afternoon, Sook Han personally introduce the group structure and my job scope, as well as the expectation she had on me. There is a lot of information that I need to cope in this coming 2 weeks. I need to set goals and objectives for myself. Most importantly, Sook Han wants me to get a Professional Certificate in Project Management so that I can have a better foundation and it will help me to move up. I will probably start doing that course after my 6 months probation period. I don’t mind doing it at all. As I really wish I can perform myself and culture my interest in this area.

I went to a movie after work. Ratatoiulle. It is a very cute animation movie. If you have seen it, yes, for sure I like the story line a lot. As it is dealing with food. Remember during the weekend, my brother asked me whether I have seen that movie. He urged me to watch it. This is a line that I remembered, “Everyone can cook, but fearless makes the great”. It is really true not only that it applies to cooking, it do apply to everything.

另类炸两

真的不想把我的 blog 搞得像个美食专栏似的。但我就是爱吃。今天中午和一家人去Imbi Palace 喝茶吃点心。除了点了一般的点心之外，我还点了我想吃的叉烧云吞面。值得一提的是，我妈妈点了一种类似炸两的点心。一般的炸两都是由肠粉皮裹着油炸鬼，淋上少许特制的豉油，配着花生味的麻酱或甜酱吃。吃起来的感觉应该从带有少许嫩度的肠粉皮开始，然后到那半香脆的油炸鬼。今天我吃的这个类似炸两的点心，肠粉皮裹着的是个春卷。一个由“沙葛”为主要馅料的春卷，配上由“沙葛”酿制的酱油，咸中带甜， 还有一种“沙葛”的清香味。吃起来感觉会比传统的炸两好吃。最关键的是春卷要做得好。

喝完茶后，我就赶着去上我的钢琴课。平时我都是带着平常心去上课。今天上完课后， 看到一个个家长坐在沙发上等着他们的爱儿爱女上课，觉得他们真的很伟大。想起我下时候，我妈妈也是每个星期天，送我和我俩个哥哥去 Yamaha学院学音乐。当时我还小，应该是刚上幼稚园吧，ABC 都还没学会。学了好一段时间，我们三兄妹，一首歌都弹不出，真可笑。很明显，我两个哥哥是没有音乐天份的。也许我还带有点希望，毕竟我还小嘛！过了几年，妈妈请了私人的钢琴老师上门来教我钢琴，学得还不错，但后来因为种种原因，也停课了。现在临老再学回钢琴，感觉还挺好的。
