Chinese New Year Preparation

CNY is around the corner and i really looking forward to it. Here i come again in my Tang Long making. This year, i have bought 2 more books. Hence i got more variety of tang long now.

This year i have made a lot of tang longs. I have a team now (mom and maid). I taught them how to do certain steps like folding the red packets, i start making it, and my maid helps to stick the flowers and the rest of the touch up. Last year i only manage to make a few because that was the first year i am making and i am alone doing it. Most importantly, i was heavily pregnant during that period.

Taipei | Dec 23 - 27, 2011

During the year end closure (HP practice is to shut down office starting from Christmas to New year), I have brought my mom to Taipei. This is her bonus for 2011 . We spent 5 days 4 nights in Taipei.
The highlight of the trip is that we have ate plenty of food.... of course i put on weight after i came back from Taipei.

Busiest 2011

The last 2 months (Nov and Dec 2011) was the busiest month in year 2011. I have just changed from a country role to regional role (Asia Pacific & Japan) effective in Nov 2011. October is the transition month and work slowly coming in. By time it reached Nov….. Non-stop of work and travelling. Very stressful months. I have to organize an event with participants from all over the world and liaise with business partners (to get funding for the event). Felt good after the event where my boss really appreciated my work.

Miss Me?

Mr Kuan enjoying his annual leave for this week while i have started to work after a long 2 weeks break from Christmas to New Year.

Mr Kuan : What time you come back?
Me: Leaving office around 5pm. Why? you miss me?
Mr Kuan : How you know?
Me: I am not sure that's why i asked you. So are u?
Mr Kuan : Of course. But you can come back later so i miss you more

There are whole lots of procedures to make this siu yuk. One of the most important part is to 打针on the skin of the half cook pork.

It's done after roasted for almost 1 hour.

Ready to serve! Check it out, the skin is crispy, and the meat is tender... good try :)
Anyway, this is not the first time we are doing. So many try and errors in between.

Painting by numbers

It has been a really busy months after i came back from my Beijing trip. Since i started my new post as a regional role in Nov 1, life been busy and stress. Hence, not much baking activity lately.Somehow, i found something interesting lately. Painting!
It called painting by number. This is equilvalent to 油画, just that i can follow the numbers in the painting and paint by the designated color. Just like below.
These are stuffs for children, but i found it quite interesting.
