Bandar Aceh, Pulau Weh (Indonesia) | Mar 10 -14 (Part 1)

When I inform my boss that I will be taking leave for a diving trip in Bandar Aceh, the first impression was…. Is it safe to go there since everywhere is having earthquake and tsunami. My mom has the same impression and she was really worry. For me, I did not think too much, it just a diving trip. Moreover, during tsunami, divers are the survivors.

The first day we arrived in Bandar Aceh, the taxi driver shows us around the city. Bandar Aceh was badly hurt by tsunami back in 2004 December 26. The taxi driver shows us a boat which landed on top of a house. You can’t really imagine how scary it was back then that the water can raise a boat to that height.


After the first site, the taxi driver brought us to another site. That was a huge metal ship. An electrical generator ship. We were stunt when we saw the ship. It was big, huge, and humungous. The ship was 4-5km away from the sea. Sure the huge ship has done a lot of damage to the locals back then.

Friend from Beijing - Cindy Mu

It was a business trip for Cindy from Mar 28 - Mar 31, she and her other colleagues extend another 3 days and make a trip to Kuala Lumpur.

I cant spend a lot of time with Cindy as i was a bit tight up with works and was too tired for that week. I am glad that i have a chance to meet her up.

Cindy is one of the first colleague i know when i was working in Beijing. Remember the time when i was transfered to Chengdu for a project. We stay together in a room and sleep on the same queen size bed. There was another room in the rented house but the heater was not working and there was a big hole at the wall where the u can feel the cold wind blowing into the room. Hence we choose to squeeze into a room and share the bed.

The accomodation of the stay in Chengdu was not a pleasant one. Water will turn cold all of a sudden while i am having my shower half way. Cindy have to help me to watch out on the water heater and same for me i have help her to make sure the water is heated and keep heated when she is having her shower. We work overnight in the small little bed room during winter. The heater at the room was not strong enough and we have to depends on the blanket heater to keep us warm. We cant work at the living hall as it was damn so cold out there.

I was new to the brand new environment and everything was a culture shock for me. Cindy helps me a lot to walk through those hard time. Good that after our manager knows about our condition. Our team was put in a 5 stars hotel on the same project at chengdu on the next year

We spend so many ups and down together.... and those are the bit and pieces that i will remember for the rest of my life.

Today all of a sudden feel like making some Tong Yun. Immediately i got John to company me out to buy the necessary ingredients.
This time i did something different. Three types of tong yun in total:

1. Tong Yun with sweet potato inside
First you need to steam the sweet potato. Add some sugar and mash it. See, the picture looks like sunny side up.

2. Tong Yun with nian kao inside

3. Peanuts and brown sugar to coat tong yun....half way frying the peanuts


All turn out to be delicious :) Forgot to take the photos of the end product.
Noted those small little tong yun, those are specially made for my niece in law : )
