I arrived in Bangkok around 2.30pm. I stayed in Pan Pacific Hotel, walking distance to HP Bangkok.
The first place I went was “Chatucak”. It is really a big market where I walk till I get very tired. I spent 1.5 hours there. I went to Siam Square and MBK to do more shopping after that. I can’t believe I spent quite a lot of money in such a short time frame. I had a Tong Yum Gong set for my dinner.

Pan Pacific is very nice hotel. I always stay there on biz trips.
MBK has a lot of those tibits using dried pork floss. I always buy Durian Chips (big packet at THB200) and those rod shaped pig floss love letters in round plastic container, THB100, with a PIG Logo. Try the spicy one, better taste.
Siam Paragorn and the Central Shopping centers are selling very expensive stuff, because of the high tax Thai Government impose on imported brands, no point getting them in Bangkok. But if you happen to bought any, remember to get the rebate form from the department store where you can get rebate of VAT 7% at the airport.
Try the Thai Traditional Dry Massage also if you have time. Many people get addicted to it.
Enjoy!!
yes, Chatuchak is a must go place to get some souvenirs and to try out local street food.. things are cheaper than all other market.. you can still go to Suan Lum Night Market (Lumphini Metro Station) if you missed out Chatuchak, but less interesting and more expensive..
if you want to buy those dried pork and pork floss products, my thai colleague (an experience gastronomist) suggest the little shop in the National Stadium BTS station..
Siam Paragon is not as exquisite as Gaysorn and Siam Discovery, you can still get some affordable goods inside the department store.. go to Central World, my recommendation for more varieties.. remember VAT 7% refund is only allowed if you have accummulated THB5000, and this can only be done at the airport with the official rebate form from respective departmental store..
traditional thai massage, you can try Health Spa Massage in Sathorn area, very established - 2 hours for THB450.. they have a website..
to eat try tom yum, papaya salad (som tam), colorful little titbits made with grean bean paste (lok chub), sticky rice with mango (kao niao mak mon), red rubby dessert (tap tim krob), thai iced black tea (cha dam yen), thai fried noodles (phad thai).. lots more!!
Good suggestion from both of you.I went Suam Lum Night Bazaar as suggested by SK. Things are more expensive. Just bought something there.
I went for Thai Fine Dinning yesterday night. It was expensive but taste fantastic. Anyway, my company is paying it....
I dont have much time for shopping. Only sunday 4pm to 9pm and today after dinner....
Not playing to buy any tibits. Because i will be the one sapu all at the end of the day. So better not buying any.
